Cities — so familiar to us, where most of us live, work, and play — are the least understood of all creation. What do cities do? How do they work? How do they get to be the way they are, and where they are going? Be a part of a design team that explores how professionals in diverse fields (city planning, architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture, mechanical engineering, construction, business, etc) participate in the continuing evolution/creation of these complex living systems. Along with your team, design and build your own City!

Learn some of the techniques used in multimedia today. Create your own self-running programs and learn how to put them on the web. You will use graphics, animation, photos, and sound materials from current popular multimedia software.
Engineering (YAP II)
Interested in a career in Engineering? This class will devote a day to several main departments within the College of Engineering here at Texas A&M University. Learn the "pillar" principles behind structural design in civil engineering. Be a "rocket scientist" as you learn about jet propulsion and satellites through your time in Aerospace Engineering. You'll be "shocked" at the knowledge you'll gain learning about circuits and power through your time with Electrical Engineering. And conclude your week in Mechanical Engineering with high-tech LEGO labs designed to give the individual student a glimpse into the fundamentals of the engineering design process and a field trip to the SAE Formula 1race car test track to see mechanics in motion. See the inner-workings of this fascinating field through your participation in this hands-on program.
Strong High school course background in math (through algebra II) and science recommended.
Investigative Forensics (YAP II)
True to the nature of the forensics fields, students will learn to use anthropological, biological, chemical, and mechanical procedures to analyze a crime scene and determine the nature and cause of a crime. Trace evidence collection techniques (dusting for prints, shoe tread and type, document analysis, etc.) will be combined with advanced criminal techniques (blood splatter analysis, black light technology) to help students work on a realistic crime scene in which students must piece together all the evidence towards the goal of cracking the case!
Medicine (YAP III)
Using the high tech facilities at Texas A&M's Health Science Center, students will be immersed in a simulated medical environment through specially designed laboratories and demonstrations. Learn basic surgical skills including suturing and stitching. Practice starting an IV and taking blood on synthetic limbs. Learn anatomy to properly read and analyze x-rays. Take vitals and work on your bedside manner as you diagnose and treat a robot patient who will voice their symptoms and complaints. All instruction is geared to give a real-life and hands-on glimpse into the field of medicine. This is your opportunity to determine if a career in medicine is right for you!
